I did it. I found a job which showcases all of my amazing skill sets. I blew the interviews out of the water and wowed the manegment team. I'm so proud to say I finally did it. I got a job that meets my standards and my worth.
My new position will consist of manageing a team of super people. Setting goals and advancing my already awesome skill set.
The only thing I am worried about is the very lax dress code. I'm stepping from a sales position of semi-casual work wear, into management of a 'nerd-world' where everyone is proven to be worthy and they essentially let them "just be comfortable". Many of them wear jeans and hoodies to work....
This thought is attrocious to me. I will inevitably be the odd one out with my cute skirts and dresses. I don't wear pants often. I actually hate the way I look in pants. So you can usually find me in a cute skirt of dress with all the accessories that go with it. and I will never sacrifice style for comfort. I dont believe anyone has to.
this will be an adventure...

Excercise Ball for the Office
I replaced my office chair with an excercise ball, as I was having lower back pain from stress.
Also, sitting for 8 hours a day is hard on anyone's posture. AND, You burn more calories on a ball compared to a chair!
It instantly got great reviews from Co-workers. My boss even said "Everyone should have one!"
It definitly helps lower the back pain I was feeling. And it's fun! I just bounce all day long.
I still have a chair at my deck for customers to sit in, and sometimes bounce from ball to chair, as my ball is a bit low for my desk. If you are going to get one, I reccommend getting the biggest size available. My ball is 65cm. They go up to 88cm I believe, but bigger also costs more.
I found this info about Calories Burned from Livestrong.com:
Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/310665-calories-burned-sitting-on-an-exercise-ball/#ixzz2H1HM7x67
Sometimes it's hard because the ball takes more energy to move for files on my desk and to turn around. a Definite core work out at all times.
They Also have a Chair for your ball which would make rolling around a bit easier. How fun!

Calories Burned
How many calories you actually burn while sitting on the ball depends on what you're doing. According to Harvard Health Publications, desk work burns about 106 calories per hour if you weigh 135 lbs., and about 156 calories per hour if you weigh 185 lbs. Apply the 6-percent increase for sitting on an exercise ball and you can expect to burn about 112 to 165 calories per hour during office work on the ball.

The Right Answer.
I'm a good looking girl with a smart mind. It attracts all kinds... and often puts me into situations like this...
One Night, On a work meeting; I was sizing out a minor hockey team.
Boys aged 16-18, and their coaches.
Well, I made most of the boys nervous or bashful.
Men often tell me I am intimidating. I've come to terms with this fact.
and the men all took their turn chatting me up.
The next day I was recaping the sizes with the 2 head coaches.
We came to an assistant coaches name with the size 3XL next to it. He says "He's not a 3XL!"
I Replied, with a smile, "He said he's bulking Up" - ( as in working out a lot...)
Head Coach #2, "Oh God Who didnt hit on you last night!?!"
We laugh it off and move on.
Just before Head Coach 1 and 2 leave, Coach 1 turns to me and asks, "Do you have 'Mr.Bulk''s phone number?"
I reply, as I pull out my pen to take another note, " No. But I can take it down if you need me to call him?"
Head Coach 1, "Good. You dont need his number"
Head Coach 2, Laughing, "You passed the test. No was the right answer"
My personal Work Rule when dealing with flirtatious clients: always conduct yourself in a way that you would be proud of tomorrow. Do not sacrafice your career for someone elses agenda. No matter how handsome they are.

Mr. Delivery - Sad Good-byes
Mr. Delivery dropped in today. Bringing the monthly schedule of deals between our company and his.
He stopped by my desk as usual and we chatted a bit.
My boss was busy, and the usual drop off of papers was a no go today because Mr. Delivery needed to discuss our schedule with Mr. Boss.
It turns out, due to recent cut backs by my company, we are no longer dealing with Mr. Delivery after this month.... *sad face* *little-bit-of-heartbreak*
He's hoping to turn this around and maybe make something else work. But there is little hope with the cutbacks our company is facing and our market being down...
I'm going to miss his "Hello Roller-Girl" greetings, the un-announced visits and his witty charming ways.
another man, another chapter in my book. closed.

Mr. Delivery, Such a Tease
Today at work, I answered the phone to a delightful encounter, "Hello you've reached . . [Workplace name here]"
and a voice on the other end says "I cant believe you're getting married... I'm so sorry"
Me: "Hello? is this my favorite customer?" - still not sure who it is, but this will answer that question.
Voice on Phone: "Roller Girl, Why would you do a thing like that? Get married?"
-I then recognise that voice and his teasing tone and pet name for me.
ME: "Mr. Delivery! Oh you are a meany! Don't debby-down on my wedding!" *laughing off his comments.
Mr. Delivery: "Oh it must be the first time you're getting married? I'm sorry"
Me: "Haha! No. the second."
Mr. Delivery: "Oh God, I am sorry. Didnt learn the first time eh? Now I have even more I can tease you about. Hahaha"
Me: "You're a douche."
This is the first time we've spoken since I told him I was getting married a few weeks ago.
That day he was shocked. maybe even a little.. dare I say... sad? He definitely was not happy for me...
He totally wants me.

Shoe shopping at work
My boss has a fashionable and fabulous Girlfriend who works at a posh clothing store downtown. She often cleans out her closet, and to my excitement, sends her goodies with the Boss to work so I can get first dibs before they yard-sale everything!
Today I scored a sweet 3 sets of heels.
Yellow crock print Enzo Angiolini Pumps
Black Leather and bronze studded Donald J Pliner Peep Toes
and Black Rosette style BCBG Girls Peep Toe Pumps
Nothing brightens the work day like a new pair of shoes :)

Life & NightMares entwine
Last night I had 2 nightmares. The kind that are so real, you feel as if you cannot escape, until finally you wake up cold scared and sucked of all energy.
The first - real life events leading to the first dream:
My mother makes amazing mini cheese cakes, and I have asked her to make these for my wedding.
The other day she told me I should just make them myself, it would be easier if I did, than her driving 3 hours with a box full of cakes.
I am a horrible cook/baker/anything-food-related-maker. and I tried to reason with her that no matter how easy the recipe, I could not get it right like hers.
second part to the real life 1st story;
My Friend makes amazing cupcakes and I have asked her to do our cake and cupcakes for the wedding.
and for a few days I've been deliberating over a faux wedding cake with the cupcakes.
Nightmare #1 Ensues:
Wedding day comes, and we have no cake. Disarray and confusion. Unhappy wedding story.
I wake up upset.
Second Life events leading to the second nightmare:
My current job has become a bit unstable. longevity of our company has become questionable at best. rumors of closing shop have circulated. and I worry about my stability there right now, in turn worrying about how I will continue to pay my bills if in fact changes do come.
Nightmare #2 Ensues:
My business closes, 1 days notice to all employees.
I lose my job. I have to move across Canada and move in with my big brother in B.C. in hopes of finding new work.
And then, I'm alone in his apartment, and robbers come and try to break in. and they get in. and its chaos. I'm calling for help, as I wake up in a deep sweat and harsh breathing, with terrible terrible fear flowing through my mind and body.
I am desperately wishing for some stability in my life at this point and things I can depend on...

Office Space Happy Place
Lets face it. no one likes to work. We work because we have to. I tend to get stressed easily by work, or the lack-of. If I feel unproductive in my job or struggle with a particular task I tend to be even more stressed. and sometimes the monotony of life and work drag you down. So I went in search of fun, happy, and inspiring items for my office space. work doesn't have to be hard or unhappy. Love what you do and the rest will fall into place.
Here's what I found:
From a Website called Office Playground
Here's what I found:
From a Website called Office Playground
Don't just play an ordinary game of thumb wrestling at the office—challenge your co-workers to play Thumb Sumo!
Team Work Magnet Men - How Cute are they!
Hoberman Expanding Sphere
I want one of these! Reminds me of "The Office" Micheal's Desk toys.
BuckyBalls
Have these in a Hot Pink color and love them!
Butterfly in a Jar - sound and battery powered
Bought this Yesterday and love it! The perfect desk pet, and no baby sitter or feeding needed for Holidays and days off :)
Feng Shui for your office
I also read somewhere that having rocks on your desk will help create a "solid foundation". I believe it was a Feng Shui book. Rocks create stability and strength in your job and ability to work productively.
Psychology with Clients and coworkers - Having rocks on your desk gives visitors and clients a feeling that you are strong and reliable "like a rock".
Rock Bonsai Tree, also from Office Playground.
Rocks on my desk, picked up at the local Market :)
1. Rock split in 2 which holds a tea light inside; and 2. a pen holder rock
Functional and Fabulous!
You don't have to go very far to deck out your office space either! I wandered into a little boutique downtown called "Geek Chic" and then into Chapters to find my fun office items. and they had lots of other fun office gadgets too.
And on my shopping adventure, if found THIS book:
The Book Of Awesome: Snow Days, Bakery Air, Finding Money In Your Pocket, And Othersimple, Brilliantthings
Happy thoughts bring happiness to life.
and nothing cures the work blues like a good dose of shopping :D (or a big glass of wine )
Shop on my friends!

Mr. Delivery
My day started out rough. snow storm. late for work. nearly hit a car, but turned the wheel and banked onto a snow bank instead, and had to get a tow truck to pull me out. *ugh, Frustration Max.*
but then....
There is a man who comes in to work regularly to deliver things, and drop off reports to my boss. Being one of the front showroom girls, I've had the pleasure of chatting to him and taking the deliveries from him in the past. He always says "Hello Roller Girl" when he comes in. *blushes*
Today I took the report from him, and went and put it on my bosses desk. I came back out to find Mr.Delivery still hovering over my desk. He was reading a Roller Derby poster I had up on the wall. I walked back to my desk slowly, and kind of jokingly asked him, "Do you want to join roller derby?" and laughed.
We chatted about the learn to skate program, and how he could join as a ref or volunteer.
Our next recruitment training camp starts on February 14th, and he said; "Oh! on Valentines Day ? *smiles at me* :)"
Me: Yes. the perfect V-day gift if you have a lady *sneaky flirtatious smile back*
Mr. Delivery: "Nope... no lady..."
Me *thinking fast,... oh god... getting flustered... need to change the subject*
"well, if you want to check it out, we have free skate practice on Tuesdays. you could come by and check it out sometime to see what it's like"
Mr.Delivery: *pulls out his IPhone and starts plugging in dates and times.* Cool. I'll see you there *Smiles at me*
*giddy feelings. awkward feelings, maybe even hopeful happy feelings*
not such a bad day after all.

My Coworker and Me, Entry #2
Ever work with someone who talks the whole time they are working. Mostly about nonsense, or things that dont pertain to you? If you find them extremely annoying, you and I could never work together. I'm that person. I just "think out loud". I have a verbal learning style, and work best with practical application by doing.
And my coworker thinks the things I think are things that are thrilling. She often bursts into laughter when I think out loud for to long. This usually happens when I get frustrated with my work; as I have the most random comments for myself and my work when getting frustrated.
I was listening to Justin Bieber one morning, and working on an entry which would not function and add properly. ( I deal with whole sale goods and distribution, so much of my job is number crunching) I got frustrated and my mind couldn't process anything with the shrill voice of JB in the background any longer. So I started yelling "Shut the hell up Justin!!! I cant take you anymore!" and my coworker nearly bust a gut laughing at my outburst.
The End.

My Coworker and Me
My coworker is trying to figure me out....
its kinda weird, a little bit flattering, and sometimes awkward.
She's read books about my work style. and my fashion sense. and tries to make jokes about cute boys and girls with me...
She's a very church-y person. always praying and very sweet. Overly happy, but I would rather overly happy, than some of the cranks I've worked with in the past. Picture someone who talkes in a high pitched baby voice... all day long. That's her.
I dont know, but I dont think I'm that interesting or confusing. . .
Having a coworker stalk me is a strange thing. I pray to god she never finds my blog or working together will get seriously awkward.
So, I've decided to highlight some of my favorite things, quirks, and habits which she has cited for me in her findings:
1. I often reply with no words, but rather a happy sound that goes "mmmHmmm!" - she's started doing this too, the other workers picked up on it and laugh at her for it.
2. I like to wear shiny things, or anything that sparkles and is colorful. She bought me sparkly tabs for my work binders and gave me colorful folders for my file cabinet.
3. my sexuality is a very confusing thing. I'm so girlie, the fact that I would even consider sharing clothes and shoes with a "girl-partner" is unimaginable. She thought I'd be best paired with a manly country boy. She asked me if I was just drunk and being funny when I told my coworkers I had a girlfriend. She was kind of in denial about it for a week.
4. I speak my mind, and keep everyone guessing. She never knows what I'll say next and laughs hysterically at most of the things I say.
5. breakfast/coffee is my favorite food/time of day.
6. I listen to music when I work. This makes me creative and productive according to her research :P
7. my favorite color is pink.

The Staff Party Aftermath 2011/2012
it's Monday morning, and I arrive at work, not entirely sure of what to expect.
at the staff party, I told my co-workers I have a girlfriend. I admit, I had a few to many glasses of wine, and confessed my real affections for this girl.
The look of shock and awe was resounding through the group. I work with very old school individuals, and many old fashioned personalities.
Some of them told me they are confused, as I seem like the type to only like boyz.
One of the older male co-workers of mine was utterly drunk, and proceeded to tell me how he could "turn me", and "to give him just one night; I won't regret it". He apologized profusely to me Monday morning after a fellow co-worker filled him in on this tragic conversation-fail.
Some of them are still bringing it up, and want to know more. it's slightly embarrassing, as I dont wish to make my personal life something that entwines with my work life. If I was dating a male, this would not be a topic of conversation. It would have ended the second after I said it out loud.
Welcome to the reality of same sex dating.

Awkward Moments at Work
You're in the middle of deep and important conversation with your boss.
Look at your boss **try to look smart, thoughtful, agreeing**
and this thought pops into your head - God I want to have sex right now!
Then think to yourself - oh dammit! why did that just happen!?! Do I want to have sex with my boss right now? no. or do i...? now I feel awkward. can he hear my thoughts? God I hope not. Oh God, am I blushing? **Face gets red**
and you stand there trying not to be awkward, but all thought processing has gone to hell at this point. and then the inevitable end of discussion question comes; and he says - "What are you're thoughts on this?"
Me - "Sounds great! I have nothing to add**Big Smiles** and try to end convo as fast as possible and scurry back to my desk, so I can hide!
Ever have a moment like this?

Dilly-Dallying at Work
So I was playing with scissors at work...
and I cut a hole in my dress.
and I cut a hole in my dress.

oops....

So I put the scissors down and YouTubed some African Music to make myself feel better.

Working for The Man
My Boss Pimps me out a little bit.
I'm guilty of being Fabulous. and He uses this to his advantage.
Here' just one example:
The other day my boss sent me to chat up a guy who does a certain job in which we recieve money from his business. My mission was to get an increase in our cut.
To Quote My Boss: "Just go, and dress like you always do, and chat with him about the job a bit. Then ask for more money. "
needless to say, in all my fabulous nature, I succedded :)
and now I feel like a hoe. just a little bit. but I'm good at what I do. and it's for a good cause, I swear! So it's all good :)

Emails from funny people
I love my volunteers.
Especially the ones who poke fun at my uber-girliness. -it makes me feel special?- anyway, here's the lastest convo I had with a guy I work closely with for events.
We were discussing the meeting agenda. I unfortunately could not attend this weeks meeting....

The day I didn't do my Hair before work
This morning, I was lazy. poor me :P
I rolled out of bed, only did 15 min on the elliptical, and hit the shower. Then threw my hair in a ponytail and headed for the office.
In my job, I see and mingle with many different people and work with many big names via Phone. So as a generally good fashonista, I still look good at work, but some days I don't try that hard. Unfortunately today was a day when someone very interesting dropped by the office for a visit and special delivery.
This Guy walked into our office.....

And my boss went nuts! He's a HUGE Fan of the Leafs. It was quite an epic day for us.
He came to personally drop off a painting for our Brush of Hope Campaign.
We took pictures and chatted. He even showed us the pictures of his Nose Surgery on his Blackberry from the last game where he slammed into the window. ...Ick!
He's from little old Prince Edward Island. We're from the same hometown!
He's very down to earth.
And man is he dreamy!
And all I could think of was; oh no! I have no make-up on, and my hair is a mess!
But I'll put up my picture anyway, cuz You'll probly be looking at him. :P
I told you he was cute. Right?
